We don’t see eye to eye

Im looking at yours you’re looking at mine

The only thing we have in common is a constant need

Like the depths of hell, like a serpent, he’s hungry, not for me

I have held you so sweet, but like a voyage

We descend from a heaven we conceived, from a boat, once lost at sea

everything i made you out to be shattering like glass

This pain is like air, surrounding me,

it happens to be just what I need

The illusion was alive, i hope you never deny it

In our minds, we created you and me

Seeing clearly isn’t a quest for the faint of heart

Nor the weak stomached, billboard beings

The truth is mushrooms blooming from dead things

It’s not so much what you gave me, it what you took

This made me see.

thrown into cold water, it’s how you learn to swim

I was convinced there was a path to follow, or a way to win

The trees were just deceivers, these beautiful things

Like you, they distract me with a pretty sadness

Poison ivy creeps up the branches, my hair is tangled in honey and last chances

Neuroplasticity won’t heal these tragic wounds, just like me, they learned how to seep

Into white cotton, like pen ink, permanent and blue

But these cracks let the light through

There’s something else out there

Something more me than you
